Anyone that knows Bolaji knows that she loves fashion, but that's just one part of her. She's also a Wife, Mom, IT Professional and as of recent, Blogger at Hey Ma.
As we plan to celebrate Mothers Day this weekend, I reached out to Bolaji who has been in the mom game for just over a year, to share advice on how she has adjusted to motherhood and the things that she has learned along the way.
Name: Bolaji Idakoji
Organization: Hey Ma
Based in: San Francisco, CA
#madeinNigeria: Lagos, Nigeria via Chicago, IL
One message that Bolaji has for every woman out there, is to make sure to take care of yourself. As women, we can be a lot of things to a lot of people, sometimes you have to sit back, relax and take care of you.
Insert from her blog:
"We need to take care of ourselves. Understand what your purpose is in life. Believe it or not, you are more than just a mother or wife. Learn to be ok when everything is not done and things are still left on your checklist as unmarked. Take time out for yourself. One thing that has helped me out is being around sisters/friends who kept me accountable. Who inquired about my dreams and goals? Not only did they inquire, but they followed up. Maybe God has placed you in someone's life to be that sister to check up on and guide. "
The full blog post can be found on the Hey Ma blog.
This Mother's Day weekend, no matter your status, take time to do something for yourself. Nails, Gardening, Hair, Shopping, Go to the city, go for a jog - do what makes you happy...you deserve it. Happy Mother's Day!
Bolaji's favorite quote:
